What is Feminism❓

MEANING OF FEMINISM

Feminism is a feeling or a belief that women should be treated and have equal rights and opportunities as men.

Equality

Earlier, men used to work to earn money and women used to be at home managing whole household chores and raise kids just so that it would be convenient for both the husband and wife. But nowadays some of the men think it's like a must for women to stay at home and raise kids only. They can't do anything else of their own choice, which is wrong.

Empower Women

WHY DO PEOPLE HATE FEMINISM AND FEMINIST MOVEMENTS SO MUCH?

This word "FEMINISM" has its supporters and haters. I don't understand why people just hate this word so much? Whether it's their insecurity of having to change, aroused from the Feminism by some strong Feminists or they just don't ever wanna change themselves, because then their powers will be taken, right!

  • Feminism has been associated with strong, forceful and angry women.
  • Many people fear that feminism will eventually take up all the powers from men.
  • Many people believe that feminists want to control the world and put men down.

Being Equal in all ways is what Feminism is all about.
Feminism is all about EQUALITY!

This Patriarchal society!!!

India has always been a country of patriarchy. Patriarchy is so deep-rooted in Indians that they just subconsciously suppress women in many ways and not admit this, just like this sentence from a husband- "I am so open-minded, I'm allowing  my wife to do her job" like seriously? How much open-minded this person is to permitting his wife for doing the job... Like who the f*ck are you to ask her to leave the job? It's her choice, you f*ckin' moron!

Women have to take permission from their husbands to do what they wants and only do if their husband allows them to.

Feminism at its core is about choice. If we cannot choose freely how to behave, speak, act, present, and wear whatever we want then what's the point of living in the 21st century? We're moving backwards!

Now coming to the topic...

WHY WE NEED FEMINISM

  •  Women are expected to leave their home after marriage and not men and if they want their husband to live with them separately from his parents, they are labelled as home-breaker. But men are not labelled the same for expecting their wives to leave their home and parents after marriage... Cause' you know Patriarchy!!
  • When on the beach, a man half-naked is embraced for his hard work in the gym for getting those six-packs and women on the other hand even on wearing a bikini, is been sexualized for having sexy b**bs, her hard work is just in vain.
  • Women are automatically supposed to raise kids, do the household chores and do the job they have always wanted in their life at the same time. And men on the different side are just expected to do the job and done. Also, women after doing all of these works all alone are criticized by society for being independent and are called 'dominating'.
  • Sexualizing women: This is a vast topic on its own and is very important too. Boys on every other street sexualize women based on their body and whatever they choose to do. Women are called slut for talking to a boy, are been commented on b**bs even I have been commented by my friend for the same ki 'tere Ang(body part-b**bs) to bohot bade hain' . And if the women raise her voice against that, she is tagged as a FEMINIST which, according to them is a very shitty thing. Passing comments like these without realizing how the other person will feel is so disgusting. No women have ever seen sexualizing men in public like that.
  • For making strict laws against rapists. There are still not very strict laws for raping a woman. Court just do trials and trials for years and not close the case when the accused is verified for doing so. There should be immediate actions.
  • We need Feminism because no one really talks about marital rape. After all, yeah, consent is not important according to them, right? Women are just sex toys for their husbands and if a woman do something against it, society blames the woman itself for raising her voice against her husband because she is supposed to fulfil her husband's desires even if she doesn't feel so.
  • Always having fear of not getting raped when coming home late at nights, while men don't have to worry for the same because 'they' are the ones who rape!
  • Women are always stopped from wearing short clothes. They are sexualized for wearing such revealing dresses. They are always being stared at their legs, hands, b**bs and whatnot, literally every part of their body which is being exposed.

It's her life. Let her live it however she wants. Let her wear that short dress without the fear of being stared at, let her live without a bra, without having to be scared of coming late nights at home, without having to ask her parents or her husband for everything she wanna do.

The Bra burning Movement

It's very depressing when someone enforces you to follow what they want. Imagine being locked at home and not being able to go out... It is okay if you are free and at home because 'YOU' don't want to go out but when someone forces you to stay at home without a valid reason, it's depressing, Baby! Just like this COVID. Now you can relate better.

The same is not being able to do what you love, because 'log kya kahenge'.

These are some of the reasons why I am a proud feminist.
